Center for Advanced Technologies Tour
Description
Visit the Center for Advanced Technologies (CAT) and learn about the in-demand career training housed in this impressive building. The CAT is a 28,000-square-foot building with flexible space that can change to meet the workforce needs of our community. Three pre-apprentice programs run at the CAT – Metalwork, Industrial Maintenance, and Building & Construction Trades. We also have short-term courses with several levels in Electrical and Welding.
Whether you know college is not for you, if you are unsure of your next steps out of high school, or you want to upskill into a new career, tour the CAT and hear about training options, some of which are free and a couple that place graduates in employment with local employers.
Do you want to work with your hands and have a career with real impact? Learn about Metalwork which trains participants to use machines to make parts for all industries, from national security to life-saving medical devices. You might also be interested in industrial maintenance, where participants learn how to maintain and repair machinery suitable for many industries. Or you might be interested in the building trades and are interested in joining a local trade union. Learn how the Building & Construction Trades training can prepare you for the entrance requirements for the local unions. If you are interested in learning about Electricity or Welding find out about our programs by touring the CAT. A tour of the CAT is a great way to explore options for training that could lead to a career.

When you enter campus, make the first left at the stop sign and park anywhere in that lot. Enter through the main doors and let the front desk staff know that you are here for a tour.

Programs you can find at the Center for Advanced Technologies would be Building + Construction Trades, Electrical Training, Industrial Maintenance Pre-Apprenticeship, Metalwork Pre-Apprenticeship and Welding.
Besides the programs found at the Center for Advanced Technologies, our Workforce Development division hosts a wide variety of programs including locomotive engineer + conductor basic training program, dental assisting, pharmacy technician, English as a Second Language, and more!
